Austin Dimmer's Ergonomic Workstation

On the Get up and Code Podcast with John Sonmez and Iris Classon, Austin discusses "Ergonomics and Healthy Working Practices".

Our CEO, Austin Dimmer holds an Msc in Ergonomics. He recently shared his expertise on the Get Up and Code Podcast.

He starts the podcast by defining ergonomics, Ergo = to work, Nomos = natural law. Ergo + Nomos = Natural Law of Work.

He then describes his high level framework for thinking about Ergonomics.

  1. SEE which is an acronym for "Social, Environmental and Economic" at the macro level.
  2. SEE which is an acronym for "Satisfaction, Efficiency and Effectiveness" at the individual level.

The rest of the podcast focusses on the second part of this framewok and discusses the concept of "Dynamic Ergonomics" the idea that the best posture is the next posture, there is no susch thing as perfect posture, constant change and variation is what the body craves to be healthy. Austin encourages listeners to adopt a creative approach to designing their environments to support optimal health and productivity.
